Aluminium Extrusion

Aluminium extrusion has several manufacturing processes. The first process is where an aluminium alloy billet is heated up to between 400-500 degrees Celsius.

Once heated it is prepared (pre-lubricated) and loaded into the die press. The billet is then then forced through the die with up to 15,000 tons of pressure, emerging as the desired extrusion shape. The extrusion Is then cooled down using water or cooling fans so that it maintains its structural durability and pulled along a runout table bed at speed that matches the exit of the die. This again ensures that the aluminium extrusion structure maintains its integral structure and allows it to cool further, ready to be sheared (cut from the die).

Now that the extrusion parts has been manufactured, they will be cooled to room temperature. As soon as room temperature is achieved parts will be stretched, to ensure that profiles are accurate and are within the required alignment. Both ends of the extrusion are gripped and pulled until they are fully straight. The final process is cutting the aluminium extrusion to cut length as pre-specified by the customer.
