Aluminium extrusion has several manufacturing processes.
In the first process, technicians heat an aluminium alloy billet to between 400-500 degrees Celsius.
Once heated, the operator prepares (pre-lubricates) the billet and loads it into the die press. They then force the billet through the die using up to 15,000 tons of pressure, forming it into the desired extrusion shape.
Next, the team cools the extrusion using water or cooling fans to maintain its structural durability. They pull it along a runout table bed at a speed that matches the die’s exit rate. This process helps the aluminium extrusion retain its structural integrity as the team cools it properly before shearing it from the die.
Now that the extrusion parts are manufactured, technicians cool them to room temperature. Once they reach room temperature, they stretch the parts to ensure the profiles are accurate and properly aligned.
They grip both ends of the extrusion and pull until the material is fully straight. The final process is cutting the aluminium extrusion to cut length as pre-specified by the customer.
