CNC machinery, using punch presses and dies, forms the sheet metal through precise punching processes. The punch passes through the sheet metal while the dies located on the other side of the metal piece operate as a support and help the punches sustain more force. Ensuring that the metal does not break under pressure.
In comparison metal stamping is a set of operations to obtain specific shapes and this includes sheet metal punching. Stamping is a consequence of other metal processes in the first instance, such as blanking, sheet metal deep drawing and bending. It’s the end process for giving metal components a specific shape to the overall piece.
